Founders Story

We founded Hadi Montessori out of a need for an Islamic school that honors the way children naturally learn and develop. More than a school with an “Islamic curriculum” we wanted to create an Islamic learning environment that would nurture the child’s natural impulse to engage, reflect, think and discover. We imagined our school as a place wherein the immaculate teachings of Islam would guide and permeate everything we do - from the way we behave and interact with one another, to the way we invite students to lessons and prepare the environment, to the way we guide and nurture Islamic practices, and process and respond to personal and world events.

After researching various educational approaches, we concluded that the Montessori method was the most closely aligned with the Islamic approach to child-rearing and education. At the same time, we wished to develop ourselves as parents and spouses under the guidance of our ‘ulema, understanding that our own spiritual development is key to the success of our students and children. As such, Hadi Montessori places great emphasis on the development of the family unit as a whole. Parenting sessions and community breakfasts with the Resident ‘Alim are offered on a monthly basis.

We facilitate our students’ journeys towards fulfilling the goal of creation: to worship and become true servants of Allah.

Mission

Goals

  • To care for those who Allah (SWT) has entrusted to us by following the teachings of our Prophet (s) and ‘Aimma (a), and the righteous scholars and maraja’ of the time.

  • To guide, support, and empower every member of our school community through developmentally appropriate educational methods by way of:

    • Providing an environment in which students may submit themselves to Allah (swt) based upon a conscious and cosmic understanding of life through the lens of Islam.

    • Offering a holistic, integrated approach to various academic and practical fields of study.

    • Facilitating our students’ growth as they develop character traits and life skills that lead to a true and proper notion of success: one that applies to life in the classroom and beyond; and encompasses this world and the next.

    • Nurturing the innate gifts and abilities of our students as they consciously engage with the world around them making meaningful connections, unearthing their inner gifts and resources, and contributing to society in transformational ways.
