Follow the child

  • Preparation

Children are driven to build themselves in the first seven years of life. Coupling knowledge of the early childhood years with close observations of children, our guides prepare lessons and materials and design learning environments that address the developmental needs and interests of children on their self-building journey.

  • Repetition and Mastery

Children are free to work with whatever activities and materials they wish to within a three-hour uninterrupted work period. In that time they immerse themselves in the areas of Practical Life, Math, Sensorial, Language, Geography, Science and Art and repeat lessons as much as needed. This freedom to choose, repeat and immerse leads to increased concentration, coordination, independence and order; awe and wonder; love of learning; self-regulation; and ultimately, mastery.

  • Process

Education is a process. While a society based on consumerism often measures success through “products,” we understand that education is a process wherein the human being develops and grows over time. We try and fail; we reflect and grow; we repeat and master; we practice and perfect; we observe and conclude; we study and discern; we develop and plan. Insha’Allah the fruit of this process is an adult who is capable of leading and contributing to society in meaningful ways; where the child knows his or her gifts and talents and is able to access and utilize them in service to humanity.

“The greatest help you can give your children is the freedom to go about their own work in their own way, for in this matter your child knows better than you.”

-Maria Montessori
